The Action Center on Race and the Economy (ACRE) and ACRE Institute drive campaigns that seek to create a more racially and economically just society that values people over profit and supports the full inclusion and leadership of Black, brown, and poor people in our democracy and economy. We are focused on supporting state and local power-building organizations—both community organizations and labor unions—in fighting for a shared common good agenda.

Through our organizing arm, Bargaining for the Common Good (BCG), we help state and local community-labor alignments develop a shared long-term agenda, identify the corporations and billionaires standing in their way, and develop campaigns to build people power to counteract the corporate power using both worker contract bargaining and community compression points as leverage to secure big breakthrough wins. If this resonates with you, join ACRE.

At ACRE, we live our values. We believe healthcare should be affordable for all. All full-time staff receive:

  • Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents.
  • An organization-funded healthcare reimbursement account in the form of a credit card to pay for eligible medical expenses not covered by insurance such as office copayments.

We advocate for work-life balance.

  • You will receive up to 20 days of paid time off annually, in addition to various leaves such as sick, parental, bereavement, religious observances, and election.
  • Our organization closes five weeks each year to ensure everyone has dedicated time to recharge.
  • We observe 13 holidays and not just the big, national ones, but also those that have significant meaning to our organization, its mission, and its people such as Cesar Chavez Day, May Day, and Juneteenth.
  • During the summer we encourage everyone to soak up the vitamin D by ending the workday early on Fridays.

We care about you today, and we invest in your future.

  • We offer annual professional development opportunities.
  • We contribute 5% of your annual salary into a 401(k) retirement savings account, even if you’re not ready to invest.

These are just some of the 2025 plan-year benefits of joining ACRE in the fight to bring community and labor together in long-term partnerships to build and maximize power.
